Has Seattle ever had a professional hockey team?
Seattle has had professional hockey teams in the past, with the first being the Seattle Metropolitans, established in 1915. The Metropolitans were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup, in 1917. Other teams that have played in Seattle include the Totems, the Ironmen, the Bombers and the Thunderbirds. The most recent professional hockey team in Seattle was the Seattle Thunderbirds, who played in the Western Hockey League and were in operation from 1977 to 2008.
